What does Teoing Mean?
Teoing (#TE’OING or minus apostrophe) is a picture fad or internet meme that immediately spread after the reports that the obvious girlfriend of Manti Te’o, a Notre Dame linebacker, and her death in September 2012 were all untrue. Teoing is just another meme/fad in the traces of #Planking, #Owling, also #Tebowing, which will be revealed as a individual, normally a man, posing with his own “invisible” girlfriend with one arm suspended in the atmosphere where her shoulders must be.
A Tumblr webpage (http://teoing.tumblr.com) went up only a day after devoted to the new fad. Chase Reynolds, the page’s proprietor, said that he got the idea after he saw a tweet of a #teoing picture. Reynolds stated that he was simply grabbing photos until people began submitting teoing photographs to him to place up on his webpage. There are since many versions of this teoing meme, the first is apparently the “arm across the invisible shoulder present” while variations include men suggesting to invisible girlfriends, posing at landmarks, drinking, researching, and even enjoying sports, all using a frequent theme of getting an invisible person in the film.
The teoing picture fad or meme popped up and rapidly rose in popularity after the news on January 16, 2013 that Lennay Kekua, Manti Te’o’s apparent girlfriend who died the year earlier in September, never existed and that the relationship that they needed more than a year leading to her departure was an elaborate lie or societal websites hoax that may or may not involve Te’o himself. (Most reports however believe Te’o for a victim.)
